Welcome to the Institute for Systems Engineering and Automation (SEA)

The Institute for Systems Engineering and Automation (SEA) is part of Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. SEA is a leading research institute on software and systems engineering. Its mission is to conduct basic and applied research on software and systems engineering with a focus on the increasingly vital role of modeling. Our mission is to develop and evaluate novel methods for software modeling (consistency, traceability, impact of a change), product line engineering (and other forms of variability), requirements engineering, and software processes. Automation and tool support play a fundamental role.

SEA is about:

  • Innovation
    • Research
      • Education

SEA has a strong track record for working on software-intensive systems in interdisciplinary domains. Members of SEA worked extensively with companies such as Northrop Grumman Company, Sarnoff, and Honeywell, Boeing Company, Siemens VAI, Mitre Corporation, BMF
